China's Canned Food
Output And Export Increase
According to official sources, starting
from 2005, China's canned food output and export have grown
at a two-digit rate annually.
China exported 1.4 million tons of canned food
in 2006, up 17 per cent year-on-year; and the export value
reached US$1.04 billion, up 24.5 per cent. In 2007, the volume
of export neared 1.6 million tons and export value was about
US$1.2 billion.
China now accounts for 75 per cent of the world's
total canned orange output and over 80 per cent of the world's
such trade volume; 65 per cent of the world's trade volume
of canned mushroom; 70 per cent of the world's trade volume
of canned asparagus, and it ranks third in the world in terms
of ketchup output.
