Chinese Canned Food
Exports Seen Good Prospect
In recent years, cannery industry is well developed
in China, both production and exportation keep increasing
and canned food exports ranks the first of food industry.
In 2008, the production reached 2.65 million tons, a rise
of 14.7% compared with the same period previous year, thereinto,
160,730 tons were exported, increased by 15.13%, valued at
$ 1.223 billion, an increase of 14.71% and 952,700 tons were
sold in domestic market, increased by 14.01%.
Canned food in China mainly includes canned vegetable, fruit,
meat and sea food. Canned bamboo shoot, ketchup, mushroom
and orange are the biggest export varieties with the annual
export value of more than $ 100 million and canned asparagus,
water chestnut and meat rank the second with the annual export
value of more than $ 50 million. These products are mainly
sold to Europe Union, Japan and U.S. and some of them have
become famous products on the international markets.
